SIRe admission process is somewhat different from other departments/centres/schools. Interested candidates can apply only to a project advertised on its website.

Step 1: Project proposals that include the goals, qualification and experience required, assistantship source are invited from IIT Delhi faculty. The proposals should clearly provide justification for admitting students under SIRe based on the background and/or experience required. It should also clearly mention that adequate resources/funds are available with the faculty for carrying out research for a period of 4-5 years.

Step 2: SRC will ascertain that the proposal is inter-disciplinary in nature and the faculty are drawn from more than one academic discipline before advertising the proposal on its website. The proposal may include external supervisor(s) with suitable justification.

Step 3: Candidates who seek admission for PhD program at SIRe needs to look at the proposals listed on SIRe website. If they find the proposal to be of interest to them and also meet the qualifications/skills prescribed in the proposal, they may apply for the same. It is possible that they may opt for more than one project.

Step 4: Short-listed candidates for the different projects will be called to appear for a computer-based Aptitude test. Successful candidates will be asked to appear for personal interview.

Step 5: List of selected candidates will be displayed on the SIRe website.
