At present, the school offers only Interdisciplinary PhD degree Program.

The core personnel of the school are the principal investigators represented by scientific coordinators of the program, the administrative staff, and PhD students. In addition, a SRC, representing the key areas advises the school on organization and strategy.

The program involves rigorous course work followed by thesis research in various fields.

Duration: Variable (typically four to six years).

The interdisciplinary program is conducted by the School in conjunction with several other departments/Centres/Schools across the Institute. A student admitted under this program will have a minimum of two supervisors from two different departments/centres/schools. The admission into this program is offered against a specified research project proposed by the supervisors and then approved by the School Research Committee.

Research Areas: Broadly, all areas of science, engineering, humanities and management.

Eligibility for the PhD program
M.A/ M.E./ M.Tech. or equivalent in any discipline.
B.E. / B.Tech. or equivalent in any Engineering discipline with a valid score in a recommended GATE paper.
M.Sc. or equivalent in any Science discipline with a valid score in a recommended GATE paper.
Qualification in one of the following national exams: INSPIRE, Joint CSIR-UGC NET with JRF, DBT JRF, UGC NET for JRF and JEST.
